How DBMiso handles your database connections and credentials, all kept on your own computer.

Introduction

DBMiso is a free, open-source desktop database workbench that is still in development and has no public release yet. This policy describes how DBMiso is designed to handle your information.

When DBMiso gains new features before or after its first release, such as a SQL editor or update checks, this policy will be updated before those features ship.

Who is responsible

Edeeson Opina maintains DBMiso as part of the Miso Ecosystem and is responsible for this policy. The source code is at https://github.com/EdeesonOpina/dbmiso.

Information accessed

DBMiso connects to databases you configure: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, and SQLite. A connection uses the host, credentials, and database details you enter.

That information is used only so DBMiso can talk to your database. It is never sent to a Miso service, and there is no Miso cloud backend.

Information processed

Connection profiles are stored locally on your computer. Passwords are kept out of the profile file. DBMiso does not keep a query history.

Credential storage

Each connection profile chooses where its password lives: nowhere, in memory for the current session, or in your operating system's keyring.

Session passwords stay in memory until DBMiso exits. Keyring passwords are stored in the operating system's credential store under the service name dev.miso.dbmiso. SQLite profiles need no password.

Network connections

DBMiso makes network connections only to the database servers you configure, or opens local files for SQLite. TLS verifies the server's identity by default. Weaker modes exist only if you choose them, and DBMiso warns you when you do.

DBMiso includes no telemetry, advertising, crash reporting, or automatic update service.

Local settings

Your theme preference, panel sizes, and tab layout are stored locally. Profile files are written atomically and, on Linux and macOS, readable only by your user account. An automated test checks that passwords never appear in the profile file.

Data sharing

There is no Miso account and no server that receives your database contents. Your data stays in the databases you connect to, under those servers' own policies. DBMiso does not sell or share any information.

Data retention

Profiles stay on your computer until you delete them. Session passwords end when DBMiso exits. Keyring entries follow your operating system's credential store. Your database content is retained by the database you connect to.

User controls

You choose whether to save a connection, where its password is kept, and when to delete a profile. When you switch where a password is stored, the old copy is removed only after the updated profile is saved.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal information, including anything DBMiso handles.

Because DBMiso keeps your data on your own computer, you can also view or delete it yourself at any time.

Under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you can ask to access, correct, or delete your personal information, restrict or object to its processing, and receive a portable copy. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), you can ask what personal information has been collected about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. You will not be treated differently for using these rights.

We do not sell or share personal information, as those laws define selling and sharing, and we do not use it for targeted advertising or profiling.

To make a request, email ed@misoecosystem.com. We respond within one month. We may ask for details that help us confirm the request is yours.

Children's privacy

Miso tools and this website are not directed to children under 13, or under 16 in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email ed@misoecosystem.com and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

When DBMiso's behavior or this policy changes, we update it on this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change materially affects how your information is handled, we will say so clearly on this page before it takes effect.

This version is effective as of October 16, 2026.
